Slang meaning of dancing with myself
Billy Idol - Dancing With Myself Lyrics Meaning
This song is commonly thought to be about masturbation, but it's really more about dancing by yourself. Billy got the idea after watching Japanese kids at a Tokyo disco "dancing with themselves" in a nightclub. The kids would dance in a pogo style up and down, and there were mirrors in the club so they could watch themselves doing it. Idol concedes, however that there is "some sort of masturbatory element" to the song. Idol originally recorded this in with his band Generation X, but producer Keith Forsey thought Billy should try releasing it on his own in the States. Idol re-recorded it when he went solo in and used it as a B-side on various extended singles. This song is about more than just dancing.

B became the first American act whose name is a palindrome to top the chart. Vocalist Patrick Stump was inspired by "the creepiness" of the strings. Ronnie Van Zant wrote the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic "Gimme Three Steps" after making the mistake of dancing with a girl whose boyfriend was in the bar and probably had a gun. He asked for a 3-step head start. He eventually married Pattie, and managed to stay friends with George.
Perhaps the most obvious song about masturbation on our list. Green Day's hit album Dookie had not one, but two songs about masturbation on it, including the hidden track "All By Myself. Britney Spears may not have much luck in love, but at least, she can always love herself. In "Touch of My Hand," she makes it pretty clear that she's not afraid to take care of business. Even before you hear the song, the animated vibrators in the video should give you a pretty clear indication of what's going on.
